Founder community: practical questions and real stories

Starting or running a business in Bulgaria raises practical questions that rarely fit into a single checklist. This page brings together firsthand founder stories and Start in BG guides for the decisions behind them. The stories describe individual experiences; requirements, bank decisions and costs can differ in your case.

Start with a real founder story

These interviews are personal accounts, not evidence that Start in BG delivered a service for the founders. For more interviews, see the founder-story collection.

Questions worth resolving before you act

Can I form a company without travelling to Bulgaria?

Registration and opening a business bank account are separate decisions. A provider's remote-formation offer does not guarantee that a bank will open an account remotely. Read the remote-formation guide and compare the published scope of formation providers.

What will the first year cost?

Separate one-off formation expenses from accounting, bank fees and any address or VAT-related work. The first-year cost guide explains the cases and their scope; the independent accounting register shows what providers have confirmed for comparable reference cases.

Who decides when the company is registered?

The Registry Agency makes the registration decision; a provider can prepare and file documents but cannot promise the outcome or the bank's timing. See the formation process and our firsthand timeline.

Suggest a question or share your experience

If you have founded or run a business in Bulgaria, tell us what you built, where you encountered a decision others might learn from, and the URL of your business. We review suggestions editorially and will agree any quotation or publication with you first; writing to us does not guarantee publication or inclusion in the book.
